Sain Class: Cavalier > Paladin Home: Caelin Sain is a knight of Caelin who travels with Kent. A scoundrel and rogue, who chases every woman in the army he can, he is nevertheless a talented fighter and a popular figure. After his bravery in escorting Lyn back from the plains, he is named subcommander of the knights of Caelin.
Kent Class: Cavalier > Paladin Home: Caelin Kent is a knight of Caelin who travels with Sain. The polar opposite of Sain – while Sain scoffs at authority and is more interested in “dallying with the ladies” than anything else, Kent rigidly adheres to his duties and obeys orders without question. Though stiff and demanding, he is a good man. Kent is named commander of the Caelin knights after the incident with Lundgren.
Florina Class: Pegasus Knight > Falcoknight Home: Ilia The first of the three Pegasus Knights, along with her older sisters Fiora and Farina. Florina is a small and timid girl from Ilia. Since Ilia is so hard to cultivate, Florina took the typical route of an Ilian woman and became a Pegasus Knight, as Pegasi will only allow women to ride them. She lived for some time on the plains, becoming almost dependant on Lyn, who looked after her. After helping her to Caelin, Florina joins as a vassal to further her training (and stay close to Lyn).
Wil Class: Archer > Sniper Home: Pherae Wil is a cheery, somewhat airheaded youth from a village in Pherae. Unfortunately, he left home over four years ago, and never seems to get around to returning. He left with Rebecca’s older brother Dan, but the two split up shortly thereafter. Wil encounters Lyn’s group when he gets stuck in a village attacked by bandits, and offers to help. He follows them to Lycia, where he joins in service to Caelin.
It is speculated that Wolt is Rebecca and Wil’s son.
Dorcas Class: Fighter > Warrior Home: Bern Dorcas is a massive axefighter from Bern. He leaves home to make some money in order to afford medicine for his wife, Natalie, who is afflicted with an ailment in her legs. Unfortunately, he joins up with some bandits to do so, and it is only the fact that Natalie comes after him that turns him away from them. He is a quiet family man.
Erk Class: Mage > Sage Home: Etruria Erk is a mage-in-training from Etruria. The pupil of Lord Pent, Erk was adopted by the marquess at an early age after showing great talent in magic. Early on, though, Erk overworked himself and Pent had to demonstrate the value of relaxing. He never really did learn the lesson, as Erk remains uptight and somewhat sarcastic. He encounters Lyn’s group while serving as an escort for Serra.
Serra Class: Cleric > Bishop Home: Ostia Serra is a cleric in service to Ostia. Incredibly arrogant and loud, she leaves a mark on all who meet her. She is sharp-tongued and quick-witted, though she only sees things her way, and explaining otherwise to her is nearly impossible. She grew up in an orphanage in Ostia, though she is convinced that her parents were nobles of some standing, and expects treatment as such.
Rath Class: Nomad > Nomad Trooper Home: Sacae The son of the Silver Wolf, Rath is a Kutolah tribesman from Sacae. He was exiled from his tribe to “stop a bad omen” at the age of 3. He finds employment in Lycia and ends up as a Captain of the guard for the Marquess of Araphen. However, Rath grows disgusted with the Marquess’s contempt for Sacaeans, and leaves him to accompany Lyn. After seeing her to Caelin, Rath becomes a mercenary in Ostia’s service.
Matthew Class: Thief > Assassin Home: Ostia Matthew is a happy-go-lucky thief from Ostia. It turns out that he is also a spy in Ostia’s service. Matthew reports directly to Hector, and is romantically involved with Leila, another Ostian spy.
Nils & Ninian Class: Bard/Dancer Home: ??? The two siblings pose as a dancer and a bard making their way through the lands together. Their songs and dances possess arcane powers that allow them to project a variety of beneficial effects upon their allies. They also have a “sixth sense” that warns them of impending danger, which makes them tremendous assets in battle, even if they cannot fight. [SPOILERS]However, the two are actually dragons (more probably half-dragons) who came through the Dragon’s Gate from another world at Nergal’s call. Once through, Nergal stole their dragonstones, forcing them to take human shape.[/SPOILERS]
Lucius Class: Monk > Bishop Home: Cornwall Lucius is a gentle monk who looks incredibly effeminate, to the point that many mistake him for a woman. He joins Lyn’s group to aid Nils when he asks them for help. Lucius is a ward of House Cornwall, and feels something akin to a brother to Raven. His father, who was a famed mercenary, was killed by a thief when he was young. Lucius is in perpetually poor health, with a sickness he says is “of the soul”.
Wallace Class: Knight > General Home: Caelin The former commander of the knights of Caelin, Wallace retires years before the disturbance. However, when Lyn returns, Wallace chooses to throw his lot in with hers and takes up arms against Lundgren. Afterwards, Wallace chooses to wander looking for a worthy cause to fight for over returning to farming. He is a very strong and hearty man.
Eliwood Class: Lord > Knight Lord Home: Pherae Eliwood is the son of Elbert, the Marquess of Pherae, in the Lycian league, and Eleanor. After his father’s disappearance, Eliwood sets out to find him. Though inexperienced in warfare, Eliwood is a skilled fighter who spars monthly with Hector. Dedicated to justice and honesty, Eliwood is forthright and compassionate, and worries when his actions may lead to war for the innocents caught up in it.
Marcus Class: Paladin Home: Pherae Marcus is the leader of the knights of Pherae. Substantially older than most of the other characters, he is level-headed in his approach to war and completely devoted to Pherae and Eliwood.
Lowen Class: Cavalier > Paladin Home: Pherae A knight-in-training from Pherae. Lowen is as yet inexperienced, but a good man all the same. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to care less about the battle and more about his stomach, and can be found eating at the most inopportune times.
Rebecca Class: Archer > Sniper Home: Pherae A young girl from a village in Pherae and daughter of the village’s magistrate, Rebecca is cheerful and helpful with a knack for cooking and skill with a bow. She insists on accompanying Eliwood after he saves her village in the hopes she might find her older brother, Dan, who left town with Wil five years previously. She is attracted to Lowen.
It is speculated that Wolt is Rebecca’s son.
Bartre Class: Fighter > Warrior Home: ??? Bartre the Brave is a wild axefighter hired by Eliwood. He seems to care for absolutely nothing besides fighting, fighting, and more fighting, and attempting to prove he is the strongest. Though not the brightest (“Nnnngh. Hard words make my head hurt.”), he can actually be fairly perceptive at times.
Bartre eventually marries Karla, with whom he has had a fierce rivalry ever since she knocked him out in one hit in the Western Isles, and the two have a daughter, Fir.
Hector Class: Lord > Great Lord Home: Ostia Hector is the rowdy and undisciplined younger brother of Uther, Marquess of Ostia. He has a well-earned reputation for not caring about politics, and he basically undertakes to invade Laus with Eliwood without any regard for the consequences. He is fiercely loyal to his friends, especially Eliwood, though his blunt manner of speech puts many off, especially Lyn. Hector trained himself to fight with his signature axe, and his style relies primarily on power, which he has in abundance. His parents died of illness shortly beforehand.
Oswin Class: Knight > General Home: Ostia Oswin is a knight in service to Lord Uther, though Hector binds him to his service for the journey. Marcus’s counterpart in Ostia, Oswin provides a solid wall of defense and clear thinking, even to the point of hiding things from his lord.
Guy Class: Myrmidon > Swordmaster Home: Sacae A swordfighter from the plains of Sacae, Guy is training himself to be the greatest swordsman of all time. He is honorable, as are all Sacaeans, but a little spacey. He owes a debt to Matthew for feeding him when he nearly collapsed of hunger.
Merlinus Class: Transporter Home: ??? A merchant who is saved by Hector and Eliwood, Merlinus accompanies them on their journey as a transporter of goods. He has always aspired to open a shop in Lycia, and believes that going along with the lords will earn him some endorsement. He is a very good cook.
Priscilla Class: Troubador > Valkyrie Home: Etruria (Cornwall) Originally from House Cornwall, Priscilla was taken in at an early age by a count in the Etrurian nobility, but she remained unnaturally attached to her older brother Raymond. She is kind but quiet, and frequently melancholy.
Raven Class: Mercenary > Hero Home: Cornwall The only survivor of the Cornwall family (besides Priscilla, who was adopted elsewhere), Raven swore to destroy House Ostia, whom he believed responsible for the atrocity. He has a brotherly relationship with Lucius, and an…un-brotherly…relationship with Priscilla, though it is almost entirely one-sided from her. Angry and somewhat cynical, Raven joins the group to get closer to his enemy.
Canas Class: Shaman > Druid Home: Sacae(?) A scholar of the dark arts (though he prefers the term “elder magics”), Canas is a bookworm of sorts, though his skill in combat magic is considerable. His grandmother is the famed “Hermit on the Mountain”, Nimue, and his wife is apparently a mage who uses anima. He has a son, Hugh.
Canas and his wife die soon afterwards trying to stop a snowstorm, and Hugh is raised by Nimue.
Dart Class: Pirate > Berserker Home: Pherae Dart is a pirate on Fargus’s ship. Rude and crass as he is, he is incredibly strong and quick with his axe. He has a treasure map, and his dream is to find it, and then hide it again and make a new map (“I’ll be a pirate’s pirate!”).
Dart is actually Dan, Rebecca’s older brother who left with Wil five years earlier. Dart had been wounded on a holy day when touching blood was taboo, and nearly bled to death before the day ended, but by the time they began to take care of him he had already lost his memory.
Fiora Class: Pegasus Knight > Falcoknight Home: Ilia The leader of the fifth wing of Ilia’s Pegasus knights and sister to Florina and Farina, Fiora is a duty-bound and serious woman, very much like Kent in that regard. She had a severe disagreement with Farina which led to the third sister leaving, but she is very protective of Florina.
Legault Class: Thief > Assassin Home: Bern (?) Known as “The Hurricane”, Legault was a member of the original Black Fang, and is counted behind only the Four Fangs in terms of ability. Once Nergal took over through Sonia, Legault realized it was time to get off the sinking ship. Quick-tongued and glib, Legault nevertheless feels pain over what happened to the Black Fang.
Isadora Class: Paladin Home: Pherae A knight of Pherae, Isadora was in love with Harken and crushed when he disappeared with Lord Elbert. She served as the bodyguard for Eleanor, Eliwood’s mother, until she sent her off to join Eliwood.
Heath Class: Wyvern Knight > Wyvern Lord Home: Bern A deserter from Bern, Heath has survived almost entirely on pride alone for years. His troop, commanded by Vaida, deserted after being ordered to kill civilians, and Heath was the last survivor besides the commander herself. He fell in with Eubans’s mercenary group, made of similar individuals, but surrendered to Eliwood’s group rather than kill women and children. He still feels loyalty to Bern.
Hawkeye Class: Berserker Home: Nabata Hawkeye is the “Guardian of the Desert”, a roving vigilante of sorts who aids travelers and eliminates brigands. He serves Athos when the Archsage comes to the desert and helps out Pent with his research. He trains his daughter, Igrene, to be the next guardian.
Geitz Class: Warrior Home: Ilia (?) A man from a rich family, Geitz turned his back on his father’s fortune after learning what had been done to earn it. Now a wanderer with no real purpose or place to call home, Geitz is Geese’s older brother.
Farina Class: Pegasus Knight > Falcoknight Home: Ilia The third and oldest of the Pegasus sisters, Farina is obsessed with making money. This caused a rift to form between her and Fiora and resulted in Farina leaving Ilia, even though she was a member of the third wing. She is quick to jump on a chance to make money or to poke some fun at someone.
Pent Class: Sage Home: Etruria The “Magic General” of Etruria, Pent is an avid student of magic yet. He studies under Archsage Athos and meets the group when he heads into the desert on a research project. His official title is Marquess Wrigley, with Louise as his wife.
Louise Class: Sniper Home: Etruria The Marchioness Wrigley of Etruria and Pent’s wife, Louise is a deadly shot with her bow. She is very friendly and outgoing, but remains well-mannered.
Karel Class: Swordmaster Home: Sacae Known as the “Sword Demon”, Karel roves the land searching for the strongest people to fight. None have yet been able to stand up to him; not even his family, whom he killed, sparing only his sister, Karla.
Harken Class: Hero Home: Pherae A knight of Pherae and Isadora’s lover, Harken went missing with Lord Elbert. He turned up later in the company of the Black Fang, seeking to infiltrate them and kill those responsible for Elbert’s fate.
Nino Class: Mage > Sage Home: Pherae (?) Nino is the adopted daughter of Sonia, though she doesn’t know it. Sonia killed the rest of her family, who were famed for their magical skill, but Nergal ordered that Sonia raise the girl, as she could prove to be very useful. She is bouncy and cheerful, though counted a member of the Black Fang, and looks up to her older “brothers”, Lloyd and Linus. She desires nothing more than to earn Sonia’s affection.
Jaffar Class: Assassin Home: ??? A child bereft of emotions who was picked up off a heap of bodies by Nergal, Jaffar exists only as his “Angel of Death”. Entirely stoic and viciously skilled, Jaffar is one of the Four Fangs. However, he develops an attachment to Nino, and turns on the Black Fang after Sonia orders her killed.
Vaida Class: Wyvern Lord Home: Bern A former royal knight of Bern, Vaida’s troop deserted after being ordered to strike down civilians. She enters into Nergal’s service in order to regain her favor with the King of Bern, and is strengthened by his magic, but after she fails, she is disgraced even worse than before. She joins Eliwood’s group after they save Prince Zephiel, whom she believe to be Bern’s hope.
Karla Class: Swordmaster Home: Sacae A roving eastern swordmaster, Karla travels from place to place honing her sword skills on all enemies she can find, always travelling to new rumors of a stronger fighter in search for her brother, Karel. She at one point was in the Western Isles, where she defeated a much younger Bartre.
She eventually falls in love with and marries Bartre, and the two have a daughter, Fir. Karla dies shortly after her birth.
Renault Class: Bishop Home: ??? (The Dread Isle) A man shrouded entirely in mystery. Renault was once a famed mercenary, known as Renault the Impervious, and committed many atrocities in those years, including the killing of Lucius’s father. He fell in with Nergal and submitted himself to experiments regarding morphs, hoping to have a friend revived. He also was Wallace’s teacher in arms.
Athos Class: Archsage Home: Nabata The Archsage of legend and one of the Eight Generals from the Scouring, Athos retired to the desert of Nabata after the war to further his study of magic. There, time passed, but his hunger for knowledge outstripped even his mortality, and he lived on, learning, for years. Five hundred years before, he met Nergal in the desert, and the two, sharing a passion for knowledge, became friends. But when Nergal’s path headed down the dark road of stealing souls, Athos was forced to stop him. In the intervening years, Athos waited for Nergal to return to the village of Arcadia in the desert, where he would finish him, but he never did. Athos became Pent’s teacher of magic.
