Good day. Welcome to my Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi Character Guide!

This is the Fuuin no Tsurugi version of my Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken Character
Guide.

This is a complete guide to all the members that can join your army. Basically,
it has all of the information that you need to know on every character. Or at
least I hope so :)

I hope this will help you choose the characters that suit you and create your
own playing style.

And yes, I have used all the characters, so I know what I'm talking about.

It isn't essential, but it would help a lot if your browser is able to read JIS
characters.

In any case, enjoy!

To jump to a section you're looking for, just Ctrl+F for the Roman numeral (Ex
"III. Characters" for Characters section) of the section you want.

Updated versions are available at GameFAQs.

Okay, here's the main bulk of this FAQ. Each character is numbered, so just
scroll down or Ctrl+F to search for the number of the character you're looking
for (make sure you add the period after the number when you search. Ex if
you're looking for Oujay, you would search for "27. Oujay"). Refer to the
legend if you're not sure about something.

He pretty much sucks early on, and he's tough to build up because he's
frail and will easily get killed. Try to get him to Lv 20 as soon as
possible by putting him up against axe-users. Then you can leave him until
his VERY late promotion. After promotion, however, he'll rock, especially
with the Sword of Seals. His Speed and Skill will rise nicely, though he
may have some trouble with Strength.

Great Strength but not-so-great Skill makes Allen the exact opposite of
Lance. He and Lance balance each other out, however, so it wouldn't be a
bad idea to use them both. Another notable attribute is his Magic Defense.
Just keep him away from spellcasters, and he'll do fine.

A solid Archer, Wolt makes a great back row unit. Compared to Dorothy,
however, his stats are weaker overall. But his stats are still more than
enough to make him useful, so it isn't a bad idea to use him if you don't
want to use Dorothy.

A typical General with great Defense, crap Magic Defense, and average
Strength, Skill, and Speed. He's pretty useful as a wall to block hoardes
of Mercenaries, Swordmasters, and whatnot. He's probably better than
Barth because of the big Speed and Skill advantage, but he'll lose out to
a well built-up Wendy.

He won't die too easily in the early chapters, but later on, if he gets
targeted, expect him to get defeated. Frankly, in the later chapters he
just becomes a waste of a space where you could instead put another
fighting unit. It's possible to level him up by dodging 100 times per
level, but that would mean dodging 1900 times to get to Lv 20. I don't
believe anyone has the time or patience to do that.

She's unusually slow, so she won't make a very decent dodger against melee
weapons because of her pathetic defense. However, she's a perfect barrier
against spells. She'll get higher Magic than Saul, but falls behind in
Skill and Speed.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I never got decent stats out of Dieck.
Basically his HP and Skill were all that impressed me. However, everyone
around me gets godly stats with him, forcing me to the conclusion that
Dieck's RNG hates me. I don't care what anybody says; Oujay is waaaay
better.

His Strength is great, but his Speed and Magic Defense really suffers.
He's pretty crappy before he's promoted, but once he becomes a Warrior, the
ability to use bows makes him a bit more useful. But your Archers are more
than enough for your bow attacks anyway, so I wouldn't bother with Ward.

She would be perfect if not for that horrible Strength and her frailness
with low HP and weakness in the defense area. Pegasus Knights tend to be
frail to begin with, but Thany is especially so. You never know when she's
going to get defeated, so you always have to keep an eye on her. Also, she
will have trouble in the later maps against high level enemies with high
defense, so you might give her some Energy Rings if you're planning on
using her.

Probably one of the better Thieves in the game, but since Thieves can't be
promoted, their stats have much to be desired. You can't count on him to
be a fighter, and you can't leave him alone either because his defense area
is devastatingly weak. But his Speed maxes out fairly quickly, so he'll be
useful as a stealing unit throughout the game. It's either him or Cath,
who has equally high Speed.

This is your lead Mage of the game. Lilina will have much higher Magic,
but Lou has a large Skill/Speed advantage, making him more useful. His
Magic will seem low at early levels, but just be patient because it will
rise eventually. Also, since there are many enemies in this game with low
magic defense, Lou will prove to be useful no matter what map you use him
in.

Clarine will max Speed, Magic Defense, and Luck very quickly, making her a
very effective wall. Only the most accurate of units such as Heroes,
Swordmasters, and Snipers will have a chance to hit her. Anything else
will have 0% accuracy against her. She is also a great rescuer/healer who
can reach people far away and get them out of harm's way or heal them. Her
only drawback is her pathetically low Magic. She'll do fine against melee
units, but she will have a lot of trouble damaging enemies like Druids or
Bishops that have high magic defense.

Quite possibly the most overrated character in the game. Rutgar indeed
does get impressive gains in Skill and Speed, but his other stats aren't
that great. The other Myrmidom, Fir, is in fact better because she gets
higher Luck, allowing her to dodge more attacks. Don't get me wrong;
Rutgar is a great unit to have, but I just think Fir is better. Using both
is an option, but Swordmasters aren't my favorite class, so one is enough
for me, and it's usually Fir. Rutgar gets Hard Mode stat bonuses.

His horrible Luck causes him to be susceptible to critical hits, which
means he would be in grave danger if he gets targeted by Swordmasters.

Probably the best bow-user in the game, Dorothy is like Rebecca from FE7
stat wise. Once you get her going, she becomes unstoppable with her high
Strength, Skill, and Speed. You might be worried about her defense area,
but her Speed allows her to dodge most attacks, so it won't matter.

She's extremely fast and accurate, and she has high Luck, making her an
impressive dodger. However, again that low Strength gets in the way. She
will have trouble damaging things in later chapters because enemies
generally tend to have more Defense than Magic Defense. Shin has higher
Strength, so he's better to have.

With great Luck and Defense, Treck is a natural tank against units who
don't use spells. He can soak up vast amounts of damage and his high Luck
prevents critical hits as well. He's also a pretty good fighter because
his Strength gets fairly high. I may be the only one, but I think he's
better than Allen/Lance.

She'll max Magic, period. But her Skill and Speed suffer greatly instead.
She won't stand a chance against powerful melee enemies because of her low
defense and speed. However, she'll be a wall against spellcasters. She's
the perfect unit to kill Mamkutes without wasting your Divine Weapons, but
if you're going to use her, you'll need to use lots of Secret Books and
Pegasus Feathers to boost her Skill/Speed.

The worst of three Triangle Attack Generals. His Skill and Speed are just
pathetic, and even though he'll max out Strength and Defense, there isn't
much point if he always misses and can't do double attacks. If you just
want to use him as a wall, however, he's your choice (but not against

High Luck gives her greater evasion rates, making her more effective than
Rutgar. Her lack of Strength can be compensated with a good support. Her

Much more reliable Strength makes Shin better than Sue. However, compared

Shin over Sue. Shin's stats get Hard Mode bonuses.

In terms of raw strength and power, nobody will be better than Gonzales.
He'll max HP and Strength very quickly, and his other stats grow nicely as
well, with the exception of Skill and Magic Defense. His low Skill can be
fixed by giving him loads of Secret Books, but nothing can be done about
having ABSOLUTE ZERO for Magic Defense. Just have him stay away from
spellcasters and he'll be a natural tank/killing machine. The critical hit
bonus is also nice. What's more, he gets Hard Mode stat bonuses as well.

Geese doesn't have as much power as Gonzales, but he'll get more balanced
stat gains. Geese and Gonzales sort of cancel each other's disadvantages
out, so it's best to use them both. These two are always in my team
because Berserkers are my favorite class and because nobody (except
magicians) can stand in their path and survive. Too bad they can't support

Claine's selling point is that his stats start out high and that his stat

This is the best of the three Pegasus Knights. Thito's not made of glass

He has one minor drawback of having terrible Luck, but that can be

Simply put, awesome. She'll max Strength, Speed, and Skill, and her
Defense will become high as well. After her promotion she can uses swords,
allowing her to charge head-on into just about any melee enemy without
losing the weapon triangle (and even if she does have the disadvantage with
the weapon triangle, it doesn't really matter because her stats are so
high). Miledy is a definite candidate for your team.

He starts with mediocre stats, and his stat gains are better than Marcus
and Zealot, making him much more useful. Still, he's nothing compared to
Allen/Lance or Treck/Noah. You might want to use him if you're lacking in
Paladins and don't want to start building up the Social Knights. His stats
start out higher in Hard Mode.

Though not as bad as Marcus/Zealot, Cecilia's stats are still pretty sad.
When I first got her, I thought that she might become strong because her
stats start out so low. But I was wrong; her stats start out low and
will remain low throughout the game. I know some people who think she's
good, but I have yet to understand why.

Building up Sophia is a really painful process because she starts out with
practically no Speed or Skill. Once she's up to par and promoted, she'll
start doing her job properly. However, her Skill and Speed will remain low
throughout the game, so if you want to use her, make sure you use stat
boosting items. You probably wouldn't have Ray adequately built up yet at
the point you get Sophia, so decide based on your preferences. If you want
power, go for Sophia. If you want accuracy, go with Ray. You probably
won't need both of them.

She's like Claine, but she starts with higher stats and has almost the same

Fae can be one heck of a killing machine once her stats get going. However
her weapon, the Divine Dragon Stone, has only 30 uses and is the only one
in the game. Therefore, you can use a glitch in the system to sort of fix
this problem and make Fae immensely useful. See IV. Additional Information

Hugh is often forgotten because he joins late and by then, you've already
built up and promoted either Lou or Lilina. However, Hugh is a pretty
nice unit to have if you're lacking in spellcasters. He lies somewhere in
the middle of Lou and Lilina stat wise. Hugh has a big vitality advantage
over Lou and Lilina with much higher HP and good defense and magic defense.
So just because you have the other Magi promoted, don't ignore Hugh. He
will Hard Mode stat bonuses, too.

Zeiss, like his sister, is awesome as well. Their stats end up around the

Zeiss and Miledy can both be used in the same way. They're both great

Karel is back and finally we have a character who doesn't become weak when
he ages. He only gains one level, but when he does, you'll see that his
gains are crazy. He's fairly useful because you can start using him as
soon as you get him. There's one catch, though: he appears in Ch 23, which

Narshen is my favorite villain storyline wise. Well anyway, that doesn't
make him particularly useful in the Trial Maps, however. His Speed is
average, but his Skill is too low to make him useful. He has more Magic
Defense than most Dragon Knights, but it doesn't really matter because you
wouldn't really send a Dragon Knight into a pack of spellcasters to begin

Out of the other units that the Trial Maps offer, Brenya is noticeably
useful because her Speed is decently high, while other Trial Map characters

Whoo! We get Zephiel at last! There is no better wall/meatshield than
this individual right here. With 70 HP and great Defense and Magic

Being the hardest character to unlock, Princess Guinevere's stats are
indeed impressive, setting aside her HP. She also has the odd ability to
use both Anima and Light Magic, making her the only unit in the game that
can use two kinds of spells. She'll make a great fighter and healer, so
use her when you get the chance.

4. Hard Mode Stat Additions
___________________________

[HMSA]

Characters noted in III. Characters as having Hard Mode stat bonuses will get
higher stats when you recruit them in the Hard Mode. This is because they
start out as enemies, and all enemies get higher stats in the Hard Mode. The
characters are: Rutgar, Fir, Shin, Gonzales, Claine, Thito, Cath, Ray,
Percival, Garret, Hugh, Zeiss, Douglas.

For these characters, all stats except Luck will get a bonus between +1 and +6
points. Luck will get a bonus between +1 and +9 points.

So if you're really lucky, you'll get a killer character once you recruit them.

5. Triangle Attack

[TRAT]

The three Pegasus Knight sisters (Thany, Thito, Yuno) and the Armor Knight trio
(Bors, Barth, Wendy) have a special group attack that you can use once you have
all three of them.

To unleash this attack, have the three Pegasus Knights or Armor Knights
surround a single enemy, like this:

X = Pegasus Knight or Armor Knight E = Enemy

X
XEX

Next, have one of them attack. That's it. They'll perform a cool move with a
special animation sequence. It doesn't only look good, either; this attack
ALWAYS has 100 accuracy and 100 critical hit rate!

6. Dragon Stones
________________

[FADR]

Fae, your only Mamkute in the game, comes equipped with a Divine Dragon Stone,
which has 30 uses. It is the only one in the game, and Dragon Stones are the
only weapons Mamkutes can use.

Now you're thinking, "Then why should I use Fae? Once the stone is gone, she's
worthless!" Technically, you're right.

However, by using a little cheat/bug, you can improve Fae's usefulness
immensely. Do you remember how the enemy Mamkutes have Fire Dragon Stones with
infinite uses? You probably wished you had them when you got Fae.

Actually, you can obtain these, using a glitch in the game.

In Ch 23, the chapter where you fight Brenya, there are lots of Mamkutes and
spellcasters with the Berserk staff. You probably know that when Thieves go
berserk, they start stealing from random targets. So have a Thief go near a
Mamkute that's near the range of a unit carrying a Berserk staff. That enemy
will then cast Berserk on the Thief. Now, the Thief will go up to the Mamkute
and swipe his Fire Dragon Stone. Now all you have to do is revive the Thief
so he/she doesn't go charging in to the enemy lines to get killed and give the
stone Fae.

Note that this highly depends on your luck because there isn't such a
convenient area in the map where you can just go and have your Thief steal the
stone. It may take a few tries, several if you're unlucky. But it's
definitely worth it.

Now, Fae has a weapon with infinite uses.

Note that this IS a bug in the game, meaning that it may corrupt your save data
or cause the game to crash. You have to understand this if you're going to try
this technique.

7. Support Conversations
________________________

[SPCN]

Support conversations boost characters' stats when the supporting characters
are within 3 blocks of each other.

You'll notice that each character belongs to a certain element:
Fire ‰Š
Lightning —‹
Wind •—
Ice •X
Dark ˆÅ
Light Λ
Nonelemental —

The elements of the characters supporting each other determine which stats get
bonuses and how much they increase.

Here's a chart, taken from
‚©‚í‚«’ƒ’à Kawaki Chatei http://www.pegasusknight.com:

Just look for the combination of elements of your two characters to see what
bonuses they get.

Damage is the amount of damage the character does
Defense is the amount of damage the character can resist from an enemy attack
Accuracy is the character's hit rate
Evasion is the chance of the character to dodge oncoming attacks
Critical is the character's critical hit rate

Blank spaces indicate a zero.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
--------------------------------- V. Q & A ------------------------------------
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
######################

General questions should be answered here. Read this before sending me emails.

Q1. Where can I get this game?
A1. a) Import it from an online game store which deals with foreign games.
Ebay might have it.
b) Find a ROM version. You'll have to ask someone else for where to find
it because I have no idea.
c) Import it from a Japanese online store which ships overseas.
d) Have a friend in Japan buy it and ship it to you.
e) If you're going to Japan for the summer, then buy it there directly.

Q2. So Roy IS in this FE, right?
A2. Yes! One more person to understand this fact.

Q3. Then Marth must be too, if he wasn't in FE US.
A3. NO!

Q4. Then where the hell is he!?
A4. FE1 and FE3.

Q5. That sucks!
A5. Too bad.

Q6. Then is Leif--
A6. Enough. Please.

Q7. Where's Lyn??
A7. God knows because she isn't mentioned once in this game. You're not going
to see her.

Q8. _______'s name is spelled wrong. I saw it on the official website!
A8. I changed the spelling of some of the characters because the "official"
translations sound awful. My translations aren't the official ones, but
they sound better. Trust me.

Q9. My stats for _______ didn't turn out anywhere near as good/bad as you said
they would!
A9. Stats vary because of the Random Number Generator. The stat expectations
are the averages that I ended up with, and while they may not be exactly
the same as other people's, they should give a good idea of what to expect.

Q10. No Assassins this time?
A10. No. Your Thieves will therefore have fairly low stats, making the game
more challenging.

Q11. What are "Dragon Knights" "Social Knights" "Armor Knights"?
A11. Dragon Knight = Wyvern Rider
Dragon Master = Wyvern Lord
Social Knight = Cavalier
Armor Knight = Knight

Q12. So who are the best units?
A12. That varies for people, so that's up to you. If you want my opinions,
feel free to email me.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
######################

I had to create a whole new section on this because my email inbox is getting
flooded with email I don't want. I do have a life, and I don't want to waste
time dealing with pointless email.

Feel free to contact me with questions/comments at
email and MSN: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

But please don't do the following. I will not respond to emails like these.
-Don't email me with questions about beating the game. There are message
boards with lots of friendly people you can ask. It takes less time to get
a response that way, and my inbox doesn't get cluttered, which makes both
you and me happier. There are also some Walkthroughs posted in the FAQs
section, so they are also useful for reference.
-Don't ask me questions that are answered in my FAQs or in any other FAQs
on the same game. It just makes sense. In fact, Juigi Kario has put up a
nicely done FAQ on general game questions and the history of Fire Emblem.
Newcomers should look there first.
-I am fluent only in English and Japanese. Don't send me emails in French,
Korean, Chinese, Martian, or in any language other than English/Japanese. I
will not answer emails that I can't read in the first place.
-Flaming. Pretty self explanatory. Don't do it.
-Don't send me false information. It won't be tolerated, whether it is
intentional or not.
-Chain letters. Don't even think about sending me them.
-Please don't send me anything over 400KB, either.
-BOTTOM LINE: GO TO THE MESSAGE BOARDS AND READ OTHER FAQS BEFORE EMAILING ME
WITH QUESTIONS.

You are welcome to email me about the following.
-Corrections (make sure your corrections are correct). I make mistakes too.
But don't email me with spelling or grammatical mistakes, unless they're so
bad it's illegible.
-CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and suggestions on how I can improve my FAQ are
welcome. I'm still new to this and know that I have lots of things I can
reform that I am unaware of.
-Clarification on something that is unclear in my FAQs is welcome. That will
help me make something that is not clear more so for future viewers.
-I've had a few people ask for my opinions on certain matters, but that
generally is okay.

Okay?

Character Ratings;
Written by Eaichu & Jet Enduro

Roy - 7.5
The young son of Lord Eliwood, heir to the throne of Pherae. Roy is one
of the stronger characters in the game; possessing only average base
statistics, but with high growths. Since he promotes late, he'll end up
being a burden in the middle chapters, but his Fuuin no Tsurugi makes
him an incredible asset in late chapters.
Growth: HP 80% Str 40% Skl 50% Spd 40% Luck 60% Def 25% Res 30%

Marcus - 3
An aged Paladin of Pherae, has served the house of Pherae since the generation
of Lord Elbert. Marcus is one of the worst characters in the entire game; his
base statistics are miserable for his class and his growths are pathetic. His
only use comes from being able to be a meat shield, and rescuing units early on.
Growth: HP 60% Str 25% Skl 20% Spd 25% Luck 20% Def 15% Res 20%

Alan - 8
A very brash knight of Pherae, part of family that has served the Pherae house
for ages. Alan is the superior Social Knight, starting off with more useful base
statistics and having growths in the right places. Will have better STR, LUK,
DEF and HP ratings than Lance. Great unit to have, due to having speciality in
two weapons before promotion. High movement and a great rescuer.
Growth: HP 85% Str 45% Skl 40% Spd 45% Luck 40% Def 25% Res 10%

Lance 7
A commoner that became a Knight when he was adopted by the Lord Eliwood. Lance
is the other Social Knight that joins; but he has superior statistics to what
Alan does not excel in. Unfortunately, he ends up being a little bit less of a
competitive fighter, because his growth and bases are too focused on SKL and
SPD, rather than anything else, but still not too bad.
Growth: HP 80% Str 40% Skl 45% Spd 50% Luck 35% Def 20% Res 15%

Bors - 8
Bors is a sworn Knight of Ostia, and the truest gentleman that anyone could
possibly find. Bors bases are perfectly set for those of a Knight,
but his growth rates are very well rounded so that he will be able to have good
ratings in everything. His LUK is especially notable after many levels. Great
tank and a good canidate for spearheading your army. On hard mode, Bors ends up
being more useful because other units will not be able to race far ahead of him.
Growth: HP 90% Str 30% Skl 30% Spd 40% Luck 50% Def 35% Res 10%

Wolt - 5
One of Roy's best friends since childhood. Wolt is one of the worst characters
that you can find; his base statistics are miserable and his growth rates are
only average in every direction. You won't be expecting any good ability out of
him after a several levels, and even then, he still isn't much. Only notable
speciality is ballista ability.
Growth: HP 80% Str 40% Skl 50% Spd 40% Luck 40% Def 20% Res 10%

Merlinus - 10
Don't think the 10 is there for fighting ability, but being a storage will help
you out so much more than you can imagine. But don't bring him to maps, his
growth rates are excellent but he can't gain levels quickly.

Ellen - 6
Ellen is a very capable healer right off of the bat, though her MGC and DEF
ratings are certainly noticable to be low. However, she has incredible MGC, RES
and LUK growth. Her HP & SPD will always be very low, and her DEF is
nonexistant. Her SKL is also only average. She ends up being trumped by Saul,
the other Cleric-- whom has a higher CON and generally more well-rounded
statistics.
Growth: HP 45% Mag 50% Skl 30% Spd 20% Luck 70% Def 5% Res 60%

Dieck - 8
Dieck is the leader of a mercenary group, one that is very loyal to those who
hire him. Dieck starts out with very nice base statistics and his CON is very
impressive; which works into a great axe-wielding ability when he promotes.
However, Dieck's greatest weakness comes from his hampered SPD, which ends up
only turning out average even though his base is very high. Very powerful
character starting off, and generally ends up only being "good" by the end of
the game.
Growth: HP 90% Str 40% Skl 40% Spd 30% Luck 35% Def 20% Res 15%

Thany - 6
Thany is the first Pegasus Knight that you get, but she isn't very impressive.
Her CON is noticably low, which hurts her overall ability with lances-- making
her not so impressive with strong weapons before promoting. Her HP, STR and DEF
have miserable growth rates, so she only ends up being weak in those
statistics... She is an excellent dodger and has great SKL, but not so efficient
at dealing damage efficiently. Great for rescuing, but not an impressive
fighter.
Growth: HP 45% Str 30% Skl 55% Spd 60% Luck 60% Def 10% Res 25%

Wade - 6
Here is your dumb, brute-strength fighter of the game. Wade starts off with
great HP, STR and basicaly everything else is only average or below. He ends up
excelling in STR and HP by a powerful margin, and his SKL eventually grows fast
enough to repair after a while. His SPD will usually remain low, and his RES is
basically nonexistant. Decent DEF goes well with his great HP, though. Because
of his terrible SPD and average DEF, he will be feeling alot of damage when he
is hit. Magic is the worst threat to him, since his RES is very low and his SPD
won't be high enough all of the time to evade twice.
Growth: HP 75% Str 50% Skl 45% Spd 20% Luck 45% Def 30% Res 5%

Lott - 6
And the other fighter... who actually has a grain of intelligence. Lott is the
stranger one of the two; he has better bases than Wade, but his growths slant
out in every direction at an average growth rate, with his HP and DEF being
incredible. His STR and SKL ratings will be strange before promoting, which
hurts his overall ability with axes. Compared to Wade, he's way worse at dealing
damage and striking as well, but he's got more of a hand in resisting double
attacks and damage.
Growth: HP 80% Str 30% Skl 30% Spd 35% Luck 30% Def 40% Res 15%

Chad - 8
Chad is an orphan of Araphen. Chad's one of the most useful characters in your
army, easily. He's not an excellent fighter, but he can be a decent contender if
given a several levels-- due to powerful growths. However, because he is a
thief, he is far more valuable; he can steal items, open doors, chests. Chad
cannot promote, so he ends up being an easy target late into the game.
Growth: HP 85% Str 50% Skl 50% Spd 80% Luck 60% Def 25% Res 15%

Lugh - 7.5
Lugh is another oraphan of Araphen. However, Lugh is a mage. Lugh starts with
low bases at Lv. 1, but his growths are rather impressive-- he will have very
high SKL and SPD for sure, and his LUK is pretty decent too. His MGC grows
decently but it starts very low, so he has a good chance of being screwed in
this stat. His RES is also not so excellent to the point where he is an easier
target for staves than others. Since Lugh averages good MGC, SKL and SPD, he is
a good contender on the battlefield.
Growth: HP 50% Mag 40% Skl 50% Spd 50% Luck 35% Def 15% Res 30%

Clarine 8
Clarine is the brother of Klein and a very spoiled lady of Etruria. Clarine is a
mounted healer, which makes her much more efficient compared to the unmounted
ones. She's incredibly fast, starting with high SPD & LUK, but her MGC is
pathetically low and will remain that way for a very long time. Due to her
impressive dodge rate, you can rely on her to dodge most attacks as a fighter
after promoting. Her RES is excellent for going up against magic users, as well.
SKL is decent. MGC and HP remain very low, and DEF is only decent for a healer.
Growth: HP: 40% Mag 30% Skl 40% Spd 50% Luck 65% Def 10% Res 40%

Rutger - 7
Rutger is a Sacaen myrmidion, one who holds a strong grudge against Bern. Rutger
starts off with impressive ratings in SKL & SPD, but the rest of his statistics
are generally average. His growths compliment this, and he will end up having
magnificent SKL & SPD in the future. However, his LUK only ends up being below
average, and his STR hurts him from doing excellent damage most of the time--
his great HP makes up for his mediocre DEF & RES. Thanks to a 30% CRT bonus, you
can expect him to pull off many criticals even with an Iron Sword, which helps
helps his weaknesses by a fair margin.
Growth: HP 80% Str 30% Skl 60% Spd 50% Luck 30% Def 20% Res 20%

Saul - 7.25
Saul is a rather fliratious priest of Elimine, which is already quite strange;
for they have taken the vows of chasity. Anyways...
Saul starts off with good base statistics at Lv. 5. However, his LUK is
noticably low, as well as his DEF. His LUK and DEF will remain very low
throughout the game, but expect the rest of his statistics to be very efficient,
sporting decent-high growths in HP(For a magic wielder.), MGC, SKL, SPD and RES.
His CON makes him more efficient for light magic than Ellen, as well, and his
excellent SPD helps even more.
Growth: HP 60% Mag 40% Skl 45% Spd 45% Luck 15% Def 15% Res 50%

Dorothy - 5
Quite possibly the ugliest young female character in Fire Emblem. How sad. This
is the other archer in FE6...
Dorothy starts off with miserable base statistics for an archer, though they are
better than her buddy, Wolt. She'll never have a second weapon, and her only
special ability is the ballista.. which doesn't come very often. Only a decent
fighter after having much work put into her.
Growth: HP 85% Str 50% Skl 45% Spd 45% Luck 35% Def 15% Res 15%

Sue - 7
Sue has good base statistics and is a mounted archer, this already makes her
more useful than Wolt and Dorothy. Her STR starts off low, and it doesn't grow
very much either; which means she'll be lacking it all throughout the game.
However, you can expect her SKL, SPD and LUK ratings to soar through the roof;
making her an accurate contender and a very swift dodger. DEF is pretty low, and
her HP is only average, so watch for her defenses.

Zealot - 2
He has basically the same kind of bases and growths as Marcus; they're
pathetically weak. However, Zealot ends up being far more useless due to the
fact that he comes so much later he can't even be used as a good meatshield or
rescue unit, thus making him utterly worthless compared to all other characters.
Growth: HP 75% Str 25% Skl 20% Spd 20% Luck 15% Def 30% Res 15%

Treck - 8
Another Social Knight! This one has a rather dumb face, and is part of Zealot's
mercenary crew. His bases are merely average, with good STR and DEF ratings. As
you level him up, he'll proev to be an excellent tank; his SKL will always
remain low, but his SPD won't be too bad, and his STR, DEF, LUK and HP ratings
will eventually start to be very competant; making him one hell of a front line
fighter against physical units. His RES is lower than that of the other
Paladins, so he is not so much of a mage fighter as the others, this is his only
weakness.
Growth: HP 85% Str 40% Skl 30% Spd 35% Luck 50% Def 30% Res 5%

Noah - 5.5
Another part of Zealot's mercenary crew. Noah starts off with bad bases for a
Lv. 7 Social Knight, which ends up hurting his overall ability in the end. His
growth rates are lower than that of all the other Social Knights, making him
worse off in comparison. In the end, Noah is bound to have good HP and SKL, but
his growth rates are slanted for him to be average or below in every other
direction.
Growth: HP 75% Str 30% Skl 45% Spd 30% Luck 40% Def 30% Res 10%

Astol - 7
Astol is a spy of Ostia and one of the older characters in the game. Astol has
better base statistics and CON compared to Chad, so he's off on better footing.
His growth rates are way worse though, so his statistics may not be as
impressive. Like Chad, he's incredibly useful due to being a thief; opening
doors, chests, etc. No promotion hurts his overall fighting ability, so he
becomes an easy target in late chapters.
Growth: HP 90% Str 35% Skl 40% Spd 50% Luck 15% Def 20% Res 20%

Oujay - 8
Oujay is a young mercenary hired by Ostia, so that he can help his family. Oujay
is the other Hero in the game, and is just as magnificent as Dieck! He starts
off a bit worse but at a lower level, and has excellent potential in every area.
His DEF and RES will only end up being average, but his HP is excellent, and his
evade rates will be incredible with his powerful SPD & LUK. He has a harder time
than Dieck due to arriving later, and he gets weighed down more by the heavier
weapons, but his SPD, LUK, SKL and STR all combine to make him one hell of a
fighting force!
Growth: HP 85% Str 40% Skl 30% Spd 45% Luck 55% Def 20% Res 15%

Barth - 7.7
Barth is a proud knight of Ostia, a very honest and strong man. Barth is one of
the most amazing characters in the game; his ability to be a completely
resistant wall cannot be outdone by any other. Barth will always have 59 HP, his
STR will definitely always be very high, and his DEF is simply incredible,
enough to take alot of punishment and deal pain back. His SKL, SPD, LUK and RES
are all miserable in turn for this; but Barth's incredible defense ability pays
off greatly. You can use him as the spearhead of your army and never be
disappointed. Just don't throw him against mages! ;)
Growth: HP 100% Str 60% Skl 25% Spd 20% Luck 20% Def 40% Res 2%

Wendy - 6.5
Wendy is the sister of Bors, and a new recruit to the ranks of the Ostian
Knights. Wendy is a rather strange armor knight, her bases are very low but her
growths end up slanting in the directions of having good HP, STR, SKL, SPD and
LUK. However, her DEF will remain low. Because her DEF won't grow much, and she
will take much time to grow in her other statistics, she won't prove to be as
useful as Barth or Bors at being a shield. Her CON is not so impressive either,
meaning she must stick with light lances and axes. An armor knight with all the
weaknesses and none of the strengths isn't a good unit in the least.

Lilina - 6.75
The daughter of Hector, and one of Roy's best friends since early childhood.
Lilina is a very focused mage. Her stats start out absymally low, but she her
MGC, LUK and RES ratings will shoot straight through the roof, making her one of
the best mage fighters and an excellent damage dealer & staff user. However, she
has a hard time with her SKL, SPD and DEF ratings; all of which are average or
below. This hurts her overall battle performance greatly. Another good note to
add is that she has an excellent support range, so it's easy to build her
supports even when playing for fast rank.

Fir - 5.9
The daughter of Bartre and Karla, a young girl wandering to hone her skills.
This is just another myrmidion, but this one ends up having a hard time
competiting against the other one, Rutger. She starts off with pretty good
stats, minus her LUK & DEF. You can expect her SKL and SPD to instantly shoot
up, but her STR, DEF and RES will end up being left behind. You can expect Fer
to have excellent SKL, SPD, and LUK, good HP, and everything else will be
medicore or average. Low CON prevents her using heavier weapons properly without
a speed loss, though... She also gains 30% CRT upon promotion, which helps her
out. But no second weapon, just like Rutger.
Growth: HP 75% Str 25% Skl 50% Spd 55% Luck 50% Def 15% Res 20%

Shin - 8(Normal mode), 8.2(Hard mode)
A Nomad of the Kutolah clan. Shin's another mounted archer, a nomad... but he's
got quite a bit going for him. He starts with very well-rounded base statistics,
excluding RES, and his growth rates are well evened out. You can expect him to
easily have high HP, STR, SKL, SPD, and average LUK. DEF is a little low, but it
has a good base and promotion gain, which helps him. One of the best contenders
in the game, with his great stats and CON, plus mounted movement.
Growth: HP 75% Str 45% Skl 50% Spd 50% Luck 25% Def 10% Res 10%

Gonzales - 7.9(10A route.), 7.6(10B route),
Gonzales is a rather ugly beast of a man, with a heart of pure gold. Taunted by
the people, evil people use him for their own gain. Gonzales ends up being a
little less useful on 10B, due to fact he starts 6 levels higher but with the
same bases as he does in 10A. However, Gonzales is a spectacular character;
while his base stats are only average for his level, you can easily expect him
to shoot very high up in HP, STR and SPD. His LUK and DEF will get to be pretty
good, and his SKL will remain low. Upon promotion, Gonzales gets a powerful 30%
boost to critical rate, and combined with the sheer power of axes, he becomes a
powerful contender. Expect him to have amazing HP, STR and SPD very early in his
levels, and watch him turn into a swift powerhouse after promotion! Watch out
for magic users though, they can rip through Gonzales like no other.
Growth: HP 90% Str 60% Skl 15% Spd 50% Luck 35% Def 25% Res 5%

Geese - 7.6
Geese is a pirate with a noble heart, one that you won't find very often;
looking to avenge the death of his friends. Geese starts off with decent base
statistics spread out in every direction, plus a Brave Axe on 10A route! His
growths are spread out so that he will have very good HP and STR. His SKL, SPD,
LUK and DEF grow at a decent rate, and they all tend to balance out very high in
his late levels. Unfortunately, his RES is miserable, so be wary of sending him
against magic users. Like Gonzales, he gains 30% CRT on promotion, making him an
instant killer against most units!
Growth: HP 85% Str 50% Skl 30% Spd 40% Luck 40% Def 20% Res 10%

Klein - 5,
Klein's an Archery General of Etruria. Judging from his high rank, you'd expect
a powerful guy, right? Too bad.
Klein starts with pathetic base statistics for a Lv. 1 Sniper, which are
slightly improved in HM to make him much more useful. He'll gain good stats all
around, and he'll probably have average HP, STR, SKL, SPD and LUK by the time
he's Lv. 20, but everything else will be eh. Not too great.
Growth: HP 60% Str 35% Skl 40% Spd 45% Luck 50% Def 15% Res 25%

Tate - 7.4(Normal Mode)
Here's the best Pegasus Knight in the entire game, Tate. Tate starts off with
decent base statistics as a Lv. 8 Pegasus Knight, and she grows at a much better
rate than Thany does in every direction. You can expect her to have good HP(For
a Pegasus), STR, SKL, SPD and decent LUK, DEF, RES. No weaknesses here! Just
watch for her CON, which is not so impressive with heavy weapons; promotion
helps her greatly with the ability to use swords to null the weight of lances,
which Tate can handle.

worthwhile.

Echinda - 6.3
Echinda is a powerful ally of the resistance force of the Western Isles.
However, she's not so much of a contender when she joins you as a promoted
Mercenary, a Hero. She starts out with miserable HP, STR, LUK, and DEF ratings.
Decent SKL, SPD and RES ratings. She'll grow to end up having pretty decent STR,
SKL, SPD in the end, and that's about it; everything else has a very low growth
rate.
Growth: HP 75% Str 30% Skl 25% Spd 30% Luck 20% Def 15% Res 15%

Elphin - 1.2
Same thing as Lalum. Pretty worthless.

Bartre - 6.45
Bartre is your man if you take the other route. Bartre has pretty impressive STR
and HP rating right off the bat, but he's also promoted with low stats in every
other category. He'll end up probably maxing his HP and STR, and will have
decent LUK. Expect his SKL, SPD and RES to be miserable. Not much else to say
about him.
Growth: HP 70% Str 40% Skl 20% Spd 30% Luck 20% Def 20% Res 5%

Rei - 7.8
Rei's the first Shaman you get, and the better one of out the two available. Rei
starts out with rounded statistics, while sporting good MGC and RES. He has
access to dark magic, which is very powerful. You can expect him to have very
high MGC, RES and SKL after leveling him up, and his SPD will be enough to help
him wield dark magic to good ability. You can't go wrong with using this guy for
dark magic!
Growth: HP 55% Mag 45% Skl 55% Spd 40% Luck 15% Def 15% Res 35%

Cass - 7
Another thief. Unfortuantely, she comes very late in the game compared to Astol
and Chad... There's no real point in replacing those two. However, if they died,
she can easily take up their position because like them; she is very useful for
she is a thief. Can't promote so her fighting ability is wasted. Her statistics
generally are not as good as Chad's.
Growth: HP 80% Str 40% Skl 45% Spd 85% Luck 50% Def 15% Res 20%

Miledy - 8.2
Miledy is a servant of Guinevere, and watches over her. And damn, she is one
powerful character! She starts off with good base statistics, having higher STR,
SKL, SPD and DEF than her level, and with a few points into LUK and RES too.
She'll grow very well in HP, STR, SKL, SPD so you can always expect her to be
good in those areas, and her DEF grows to be high enough to take most hits
without a problem. Her only weaknesses are those of bows and Aircalibur! Expect
wonderful things from her.
Growth: HP 75% Str 50% Skl 50% Spd 45% Luck 25% Def 20% Res 5%

Percival - 8.4
Percival is the Knight General of Etruria, and the strongest of the three that
can join your team. He starts with high weapon levels, good base
statistics(Incredible ones on hard mode) and decent growth rates spread in every
direction. There's nothing wrong with him, though he will probably end up
inferior to your other Paladins on normal mode, he has a good chance of
surpassing them on hard mode.
Growth: HP 75% Str 30% Skl 25% Spd 35% Luck 20% Def 20% Res 10%

Cecilia - 4
Cecilia is the Mage General of Etruria, and the weakest one that joins your
team. Her base statistics are absoltuely miserable for her promoted class, with
numbers being below 10. Her weapon levels are only average, and her CON isn't so
impressive... So there is nothing absolutely magnificent about her. She grows
pathetic in every area except for SKL, which still ends up terrible. Stay very
far away.
Growth: HP 60% Mag 35% Skl 45% Spd 25% Luck 25% Def 20% Res 25%

Sophia - 6.7
Sophia is the second Shaman you get, and she doesn't start out on a high level
like Rei does. Sophia joins into the "middle point" of the game as a Lv. 1
Shaman, which means you will have a harder time leveling her, especially since
her base statistics are so low. Her MGC and RES will simply be incredible if you
put some effort into her, for she sports powerful growth rates in those
categories... Everything else will be average or below that. Rei is a much
better choice for dark magic.
Growth: HP 60% Mag 55% Skl 40% Spd 30% Luck 20% Def 20% Res 55%

Irgene - 5
Irgene is the daugher of Hawkeye, and the current protector of the desert palace
of Arcadia. Irgene is alot more RNG-proof than the other archers, which makes
her significantly useful, but she's still nothing special. Her STR, SKL, and SPD
all tend to turn out pretty okay, for a change in prepromoted characters, but
her LUK, DEF and HP tend to below average.
Growth: HP 70% Str 35% Skl 25% Spd 35% Luck 20% Def 10% Res 5%

Garett - 5.7
Another prepromoted character. He's a bit decent compared to other ones, because
he starts out as a Berserker with the significantly powerful 30% CRT bonus.
However, he only manages to have great HP, and excels slightly in STR...
Everything else is below average. On hard mode, he manages to be a bit more
impressive but nothing compared to Geese or Gonzales.
Growth: HP 70% Str 45% Skl 25% Spd 25% Luck 15% Def 15% Res 5%

Fa - 7
Not too bad. Her statistics gain very rapidly and it isn't hard for her to gain
levels at all, she's a very powerful magic resistant tank, so you can use her to
lure out staff and magic users with relative ease... Her only downfall is that
she's greatly limited by her 30-use Divine Stone. So it's wise to get her a few
levels early on, use her as a tank, and then have her use her advantage in the
last few chapters.

Hugh - 7.7
Hugh is the son of Canas, grandson of Niime, and a guy that's looking to find a
good paycheck. It costs a great amount of money to use him, so if you already
have reliable magic users; it's better off not wasting so much money on him.
However, it's well worth the money to spend on Hugh! His base statistics are
magnificent for his level, he starts with a good grade in every single stat
right off the bat; and his statistics grow pretty well, with his HP, MGC, SKL,
SPD going high, and his LUK being decent, and his DEF ending up pretty good for
a Mage. His only problem is resistance, he isn't as good at magic fighting like
the other magic users, but his defense and HP makes him a better contender than
the others.

Zeiss - 8.4
Zeiss is the brother of Miledy, a loyal dragon knight to Bern and a knight with
a noble heart. Zeiss is another one of the most incredible units in the game,
his starting stats are incredible for his level; just like Miledy. Zeiss will
quickly shoot up in his HP, STR, and SKL ratings, while maintaing decent SPD and
wonderful DEF. His only weaknesses will be magic and bows! Zeiss is a god that
can move all over the battlefield, take hits like no other, and be able to
effectively perform well while keeping great movement. Not to mention, he has
grand rescuing ability as well, and good CON to help him with those heavier
lances.

Douglas - 3
Douglas is the Great General of Etruria and is incredibly loyal to his very
king. Douglas is also one of the worst units in the entire game, despite how
powerful his ranking is within the storyline. His starting statistics are
absolutely miserable and his growth rates are low all-around. Weapon levels are
the only thing to be complimented about him, and his CON is terrific.
Unfortunately, he stil takes plenty of damage despite his decent defense, and
his SKL, SPD, and LUK ratings are so horrific you won't even want to consider
him. STR isn't so hot either. Don't bother. He comes too late to be any use.
Growth: HP 60% Str 30% Skl 30% Spd 30% Luck 20% Def 30% Res 5%

Niime - 4
Niime is the grandmother of Hugh, and the mother of Canas. She's known as the
Mountain Hermit and is a powerful Druid even in her old age. Within the game,
she isn't really that impressive... She starts off with good weapon levels, and
solid MGC and SKL. Her HP is the worst average in the entire game, and her RES

Yuuno - 2
The wife of the mercenary leader, Zealot, and one of the most revered Pegasus

have any significant use. Her base statistics are garbage, her growth rates are

Dayan is the leader of the Kutolah clan, and a stubborn old man that refuses to
give up the fight against Bern, even when his own clan had been decimated. He

incredible growth rates, so you can expect him to get +1/+2 in every stat. He'll
end up with average HP, good STR, maxed SKL, good SPD, good LUK, decent DEF and
